Delhi–Haridwar and Rishikesh Road Travel Set to Become Faster as NHAI Nears Completion of Key Highway Projects

New Delhi: Travelling from Delhi to the holy cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh is expected to become significantly faster and more convenient as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) moves closer to completing a series of major road infrastructure projects in northern India. The upgraded highway network is designed to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and support the growing flow of pilgrims, tourists, and commercial traffic.

The ongoing works include new bypasses, widened highway stretches, flyovers, and modern access-controlled road corridors that are expected to streamline travel through key bottlenecks, particularly around Haridwar. Once operational, these projects will help reduce travel time between Delhi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh while making journeys safer and more efficient.

The improved connectivity is also expected to complement the recently operational Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, creating a stronger regional transport network across Delhi-NCR, western Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Together, these road upgrades are likely to benefit tourism, logistics, local businesses, and daily commuters.

From a real estate perspective, enhanced highway infrastructure is expected to strengthen demand for residential, hospitality, retail, and mixed-use developments along the Delhi–Haridwar–Rishikesh corridor. Better accessibility generally improves the attractiveness of nearby towns for homebuyers, investors, and businesses, particularly in locations with growing tourism and religious significance.

Infrastructure experts believe these projects will play an important role in supporting regional economic growth while improving connectivity ahead of future tourism and pilgrimage demand, including large-scale religious events in Uttarakhand.
